Guess who has finally hit Amazon's best selling list? Not sure? I'll give you a hint...ME!! Number 68 so I'm not even at the bottom of the heap! Who would have thought that tweaking categories would have made such a major impact? So, in celebration I've revamped the website. What do you think? No really, what do you think?
Life is good!! Michelle You know me, I love Scottish folktales so when a friend sent me the following link about Rev. Robert Kirk I couldn't wait to read it. Come to find out, I had heard this story as a child and thought it was just that, a story. This man really existed and his writings have inspired the imaginings of many.
Rev. Kirk was known to collect fairy tales of the day, but his diaries tell a different story. Apparently, the Reverend Kirk's writings are telling the story of his experiences with the fae folk. Even his death is mysterious...did he die, or is he still living with the fairies? Read the article for yourself and tell me what you think :) http://www.ancient-origins.net/myths-legends-europe/secret-lives-elves-and-faeries-truth-behind-story-rev-robert-kirk-003195?nopaging=1 Life is good!! Michelle I've been away from my writing desk for a couple weeks working on other projects and attending classes. Though I'm behind in my word count--Broken Promise's rewrite was left at only 3500 words-- I have gained new insight on an idea that has been floating around my mind for many years.
My book series--Broken Angel, Broken Promise, and Broken Dreams-- take place in Scotland because I was researching my genealogy. After being raised to believe my father's family was Irish, I found documentation proving we are actually Scottish and Danish. Yes, I know there is only the Irish Sea separating Ireland and Scotland, and that long ago when someone had caused a little too much trouble in one country, they would just slip over to the other (I'm sure my family made this trek many times). Anyway, the family stories prior to my paternal grandfather are nonexistent. The only way I know anything about my great-grandparents or their parents is through documentation online. It is sad that so much history was lost because, as I believe, of a family feud. Which brings me to my next project: encouraging people to write their memoirs. Stay tuned...more to come :) Life is good!! Michelle A couple months ago I mailed out copies of Broken Angel to various friends and after confirming each had arrived, I went on to write Broken Promise. Well, last night one of those friends, David, shared that he had only been able to read chapter one before his eighth grade granddaughter found it and took it home. Then before she could finish it, her friends were asking to borrow the book. Now there are a group of girls totally engrossed in the world of my imagination waiting for the sequel.
At the end of our conversation David asked, "By the way, what genre were you writing the book for." "Young Adult/New Adult, and it looks like I hit my mark." Life is good!! Michelle P.S. I'll gladly send you another copy if you'd like :) |
