I gasped and began choking. Turin started pounding my back, “Sorry, I didn’t think I’d get that reaction.”
“Where did you get that idea?” I asked waving him off. “Never mind, stupid question. What has Fallen told you?”
“Not much really, only that you two are working on displacing the ancients. When that happens, he will marry you.”
My fists tightened, “Why are you here Turin; to keep track of your friend’s trophy? Is that why you’re being privately tutored with me?” I stood and began walking down the trail.
Turin walked a few paces behind me, neither of us speaking. Normally I would have enjoyed the scent of pine and the gentle breeze, but I was too livid for any of that. Fallen has gone too far. How dare he tell others that we were to marry. He knew we were friends, only friends, never anything more. Now he has his lackey acting as a body guard protecting his interest? How did my father and Xander get talked into this? If they knew the truth they would never have agreed to Turin and I being tutored together.
