“She will be along shortly, just popped up to the shops for a minute. Let me take your things up to your room while you relax,” he said grabbing my duffle bag and heading up the stairs. His voice drifted down the stairs saying, “Help yourself to anything in the fridge or I can make you some tea if you prefer.”
“I’ll fix it,” I said entering the kitchen, “would you like a cup of tea, too?”
“Sure, can’t let you drink alone,” he said coming down the stairs.
The front door opened, “Bjorn, there is a strange cat sitting on the porch…”
“Make that three,” he said before greeting his wife.
“Who are you talking to?” Alexa asked.
“That cat would be with me” I said poking my head around the corner.
Alexa squealed; her bags fell to the floor spilling their contents as she ran to give me a hug. “It has been so long; when did you arrive? How is everything in the realm? Does Xander know you’ve abandoned you studies?” She would have kept going if not for Bjorn breaking in.
“Honey, take a breath,” he said with a chuckle. “She just arrived; you can have the inquisition over tea.”
Alexa smiled and turned red; “I’m sorry I just got so excited.” Laughter echoed in the room as Alexa continued to hug me.
