This is the first book, out of many I have planned, that I've finished. It took many months of writing and dissecting the works of writers I hold in high esteem before I fully came into my own writing style. So after finishing the initial draft of Broken Promise, I thought the rest would be a piece of cake. Guess I was wrong.
Today, after spending several hours manipulating, twisting, and pulling apart multiple phrases, I discovered that the original version was best. What the heck? I thought I understood the editing/revising process; after all, I teach this! But just like learning my writing style, it takes practice and study to understand what needs to stay and what needs to be revised.
Moral of the story: Don't expect to achieve your goals with minimum work. Dive in, be prepared to tare it down and start over...maybe many times. In the end you'll be glad you did :)
Life is good!
