I'm new to the world of business and I'm finding the learning curve to be quite steep. Each time I approach a seemingly easy task the unexpected layers of overwhelming detail raises its ugly head causing a lot of head scratching.
Case and point: You need to send out a news letter, but to do that, you need to create a subscriber list.
Well, okay, I'm on it. I decided to use MailChimp because it is free (always good on a tight budget) and reviews say it is easy to use. I settle in and start setting up my subscriber form. All is going well until I type in my website email address and a warning message says my emails may not be delivered because I use a "gmail" account. What? Isn't one email address as good as another? Guess not, seems there is a lot of spam out there and this is one way to protect the populace. However, MailChimp was kind enough to suggest creating an email address that doesn't use one of the free email servers and gave a list of suggested providers. Alrighty then, let the research begin. An hour or so of trying to decipher the lingo, I decide I'll risk using my original email and move on.
On to creating the subscriber pop-up...YAY or not. It was simple enough to figure out and all was going smoothly until it gave me code to embed into my site but failed to tell me where in my site it should be placed. OMG...I've looked through settings and my pages without success...I give up. Think I'll go brush my horse.
Life is good!
