After purchasing our tickets, hubby said a quick prayer that it wouldn't cost as much as last year (siding and roofing) and we went in. We cruised the aisles watching demonstrations, asking questions, and chatting with people. All in all, it was an enjoyable time with only one purchase made.
While exiting the building, a shed display caught my eye. Yep, here come the dollar signs....lol. Hal, aka hunky hubby, has been playing with the idea of building a green house to extend our growing season. We entered the shed chatting with the proprietress about her business and checking out the quality of her product.. No, they didn't offer a green house which stopped Hal in his tracks, time to leave. However, my imagination kicked it at the same time.
I'm in the process of creating a new garden space and have toyed with the idea of a shed among vegetable plots, flower gardens, and shrubs. So I asked, "Do you have a writing shed?" "Why yes we do," came her quick response and she whipped out a picture of a modern style shed with plenty of light. My mind was spinning with joy. Not even the cost, $5,000 base price, stopped the plans churning in my head.
After bidding her a good day, we got in the car to begin our weekly shopping. No matter what I did, the idea of that shed kept floating through my mind teasing its way back to center stage. Hubby the practical noticed my preoccupation and asked the inevitable question, "Can we afford it?" "No." (insert pouty lip here)
That didn't stop me from dreaming of how charming it would be to have a place in nature to go for quiet contemplation and writing. Visions of curtains floating in a gentle breeze, me sitting in a comfortable chair with french doors open, flowers growing all around....heaven!!
Then the thought occurred to me, you could build it yourself. Why, yes I can! Haven't I built fences and repaired sheds? If I took my time, why couldn't I create the writing shed of my dreams? Good question....
Let the search begin.....
