Anyway, two years ago I was sitting in the school parking lot waiting for my grandson to be released. I had picked up a copy of Writer's Digest (something to do with indie authors) and decided to look through it. An article caught my attention, and began reading it.
It talked about a woman, about my age, who quit her day job to pursue her desire to make writing a career. OMG...what's not to love?! Everything she said in that article spoke to me, affirming many of my publishing ideas that had been rejected by a local critique group as unprofessional.
At home, I couldn't stop talking about the article. and decided to contact her. Not something I usually do. Writers are busy people, and I'm a no body. Well, Kally responded quickly with encouraging words to go with my gut and explaining her marketing strategy. We emailed for quite a while that night, sharing thoughts and I found her to be a down to earth, compassionate person who was more than happy to encourage this fledgling writer.
It is out of those conversations that Broken Angel developed from a thought, into a manuscript, and soon to be published. I aspire to be like Kally. To pass along techniques that work for me, names of editors, and share pitfalls of this ever changing world.
