The pair of red tail hawks that nest next to my house are now feeding their fledglings in the back section of my pasture. And true to form, both chicks were waiting on the back fence for a parent to bring home a nice juicy mouse. They aren't letting me get as close as they were last week, so as I worked my way down a broken fence line they became uncomfortable and took to the air. It is amazing how quickly they become proficient at flying. Last week they were barely able to make it from our house to the back porch landing beak first. This week they are playing in the air currents, gracefully maneuvering over the fields and landing on branches without a single leaf moving.
To my astonishment Daeris was standing next to me admiring the show murmuring, "Look how confident they've become! Aren't they beautiful?" To my amazement she called to one. It answered, circling overhead then landed on her outstretched arm as if it was the most natural thing.
How I wish my imagination could come true :)
Life is good!
